Dominion Energy Officially Dedicates South Carolina's Largest Solar Farm in Jasper County

Dominion Energy today hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the state’s largest solar farm in Ridgeland, S.C. The 71.4-megawatt Solvay Solar Energy-Jasper County, S.C., solar array, and the 10-megawatt companion Ridgeland Solar location, are located in Jasper County, about 30 miles northeast of Savannah, Ga. The sites can produce enough energy to power 20,000 area homes.

This natural gas infrastructure project is 100-percent dedicated to customers in South Carolina, with nearly 94 percent of the capacity serving South Carolina Electric & Gas and its customers.

I have been a SCE&G employee for 29 years. I began my career at V.C. Summer after graduating from Orangeburg-Calhoun Tech. I then worked on the construction project for the Cope plant and have been there since its completion. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel around the state, working with other plants as they need assistance and even working with the line crews for storm response. This has allowed me to know fellow employees from one end of our service territory to the other, and there is no other group of people I would rather work with.
