South Carolina is home to more than 420,000 United States veterans and over 55,000 active military members. These American heroes give so much for our country and Dominion Energy is committed to giving back to them.
One in five new hires at Dominion Energy is a veteran. In fact, we're a founding partner of Troops to Energy Jobs, a national program that helps military members find rewarding careers in the energy industry. We believe that the unique skills and experience veterans bring align with our core values of safety, excellence, ethics and teamwork.
With Dominion Energy, deployed military employees can count on 100% salary differential for up to five years. We understand our armed forces miss out on a lot while they are away, and we want to ensure they won't miss out on the financial support and benefits they'd get working here at home.
In addition, we offer other programs to support our military employees, including:
- Benefits to cover deployed reservists and their dependents.
- Paid time off for Guard and Reserve duty on top of vacation and sick leave.
- $5,000 Student Veteran Scholarship Award recognizing five interns/co-ops for their military service.
- Dominion Energy Veterans Network, an employee resource group.
Dominion Energy is well known for its recruitment and support of veterans in its workforce, as well as in the community. In 2017, we gave $500,000 to 11 non-profit organizations providing essential support services to active duty, veterans and military families in seven states.
Our initiatives and employment practices have earned us the "Best for Vets" Award given by Military Times and recognition as a Top 100 Friendly Employer by GI Jobs magazine, every year since 2010.
Our military members are a true reflection of our unifying concept of One Dominion Energy and we are proud to have them on the team.
